When you consistently negate your established set goals by telling yourself one thing and doing another, you send a signal to your subconscious mind that your words are meaningless. You reinforce a "loser" mentality in your mind. If you repeat this sort of cycle often, you end up hypnotizing yourself into expecting to fail, expecting to let yourself down. When you expect to fail, you usually will!

When I was 15 years old I was just becoming an aspiring landscape artist. I loved watching Bob Ross on PBS swish his brush across his canvas and create his happy magical worlds and they could be whatever he wanted them to be. He would say, "you have the power to move mountains!" and "not to worry about little splotches, they were happy little accidents! Just make this dribble into a bush." Instantly, a bush would appear on his canvas! |
